a bit about me.

"insert pithy quote" - every website ever

On October 31, 2002, I started this journey on London's West End in the show Stomp. I then went banging trash cans and breaking brooms around the Americas for five years. A lot of stories came out of that experience, both brilliant and bad, but the BEST was my beautiful daughter, Finn.

Since then, I've continued to tour nationally and internationally with a variety of shows; I've been a regular at BBC Radio 4 where I've appeared in half a dozen or so radio plays; I've performed Shakespeare in the West End - I even joined a group of travelling African musicians sharing team-building skills from Amaan, Jordan to Milan, Italy.

Whether I'm loading a set into a van myself or sipping a bourbon and ginger at 35,000 feet, as long as I'm bringing joy and enjoying it myself, nothing else matters (well, getting paid helps ngl).

I have published several articles and have had some of my original plays produced. I am also a screenwriter with loglines available under the writing tab.

I have an MA in journalism from City, University of London, and have worked with several well-known news organizations.

FEATURED WORKS

FRANKENSTEIN UK NATIONAL TOUR

In this staged production of Mary Shelly's novel, adapted by John Ginman, I was lead puppeteer and voice of the Monster who was  a 6'5" Bunraku Puppet designed by Yvonne Stone.

BBC RADIO 4

I have been lucky enough to work with incredible directors at the BBC such as Sue Roberts and Gary Brown on some amazing projects. In four episodes of Further Tales of the City by Amistad Maupin, adapted or Radio by Bryony Lavery, I played four characters.

STOMP - TOUR OF THE AMERICAS

I played the lead, Sarge, in this internationally acclaimed show - engaging the audience and leading a band of performers through the multitude of musical numbers.  My favourite instrument to play was the kitchen sink. (I still play it when I'm doing the dishes.)

THE SCOPIA EFFECT

This award-winning psychological suspense feature debut from Chris Butler is an assault on all the senses. I play Dr. Edward Stanton who is a young therapist with an unconventional approach, which opens up Pandora's box.

Reviews

Leave Hitler to Me Lad (West End)

[Kyper's] almost constant presence on stage is very effective, and his instrumental versatility is incredibly impressive [and] he carries the show well - A Younger Theatre  https://www.ayoungertheatre.com/

Frankenstein (UK National Tour)

[Kyper's] performance, along with the careful, perceptive puppetry, made this one of the best examples of puppetry that I’ve seen in recent years. He gave the monster passion and soul, depicting his agonising rejection and abandonment with a voice full of nuance and power.- Always Time for Theatre https://alwaystimefortheatre.com/

Olives and Blood (European premiere)

[Kyper] and his uncanny resemblance to the actual Lorca is a joy to behold. He holds court with hints of Benedict Cumberbatch, erudite yet caring.  - Views from the Gods https://viewsfromthegods.co.uk/

Twelfth Night (West End)

"Louis [Kyper's] Orsino is undoubtedly heavy of soul" - British Theatre Guide https://www.britishtheatreguide.info/

Frankenstein (UK National Tour)

Louis [Kyper] does a phenomenal job of voicing the monster and controlling his every move. It doesn’t take long before you have forgotten all about [Kyper] and are looking deep into the puppet’s eyes, listening to his sorrowful quest for love - Everything Theatre  https://everything-theatre.co.uk/
